I recently bought the “Tooluxe 40420L” and I’m REALLY IMPRESSED with it! Like the review states, the tip heats up REALLY FAST and gets REALLY, REALLY HOT! It’s fairly balanced and comfortable to hold like a “pencil”, but can also be held like a “knife” if needed.
The only “downs” I have are these: 1) You need a small screwdriver to “depress” each battery stack to close the battery cover; 2) the battery cover isn’t “secure” when closed – you need to “tape it down” to keep it from accidentally dislodging; 3) while the tip gets REALLY HOT, it can’t handle heating “large areas” (wire or PCB copper) too well; 4) the “angle” of the conical tip (only shape available!) doesn’t “lay flat” on a surface very well; 5) replacement tips (yes, they ARE AVAILABLE!), while inexpensive ($5-$6 apiece) are Kinda Rare. Google search on “RadioShack Replacement Soldering Tip for Cat. No. 6400039” to find a supplier (buy from a supplier with the LOWEST SHIPPING CHARGE – the item cost is roughly the same no matter where you look!).
